2012 is the most common End of the World Belief of this
age. The story started withclaims that a planet discovered by Sumerians, was headed towards earth. The Catastrophe was first predicted to happen at May, 2003, but when nothing happened, the date was changed to December 2012. These two myths were linked to the end of a mayan calender cycle on the 21st of December 2012. Hence - Doomsday December 2012. There are some facts, that back up this idea and one of them is that using high-tech equipment, scientists have predicted that the 21st of December 2012, will be a day like no other - The Winter Solstice. The day that the sun will sit precisely on the crossroads between the milky way snd the galactic equinox, forming a perfect alignment with the centre of the galaxy.
